The Ministry of Education, Sports Arts and Culture through the Sports and Recreation Commission says it is building capacities throughout the country’s provinces to  identify and nurture talent in sport.

This was said by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture, Dr Stephen Mahere at the official closing ceremony of the 9th edition of Zimbabwe National Youth Games held in Gwanda.

Dr Mahere underscored the need to decentralise sports development programs to all communities so that clubs act as talent conduits.

Dr Mahere commended the host province, Matabeleland-South for hosting a well-organised event.

Meanwhile, Harare continued with their dominance at the games after they came first collecting a total of 48 medals while Midlands came second with 33 medals.

The host province was at number 6 collecting 15 medals while Matabeleland North anchored the log standing and got 3 medals.
