The Angel of Hope Foundation in partnership with a local hardware has refurbished Harare Maternity Hospital.
Patron of the foundation, the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa handed over the ward to the hospital today.
Harare Maternity Hospital is a referral and training centre which provides quality specialist care to all referral and complicated maternity patients.
Like most health institutions in the country, the maternity section at Harare Hospital has not been spared by the economic challenges.
It is against this background that the First Lady partnered with the private player Bhola Hardware to ensure patients receive quality service at Harare Hospital.
The First Lady said the Angel of Hope Foundation will continue looking for partnerships to achieve sustainable development goals in the health sector.
Bhola Hardware Managing Director Mr Anis Patel encouraged the corporate world to join in and help in transforming the country’s hospitals.
Amai Mnangagwa’s charity works have positively impacted a number of people across the country, which saw a Harare couple naming their daughter Auxillia.
The First Lady met Rachel Maunga mother of the child named after her in January this year.
The couple has since been offered a job by friends of Angel of Hope Foundation.
Soon after assuming office in November last year, the First Lady undertook surprise visits to hospitals to assess the situation and to have a firsthand experience of what patients go through at the country’s health institutions.
Her visits have paid off with noticeable change of attitude by hospital staff towards patients while some resources that she has sourced have helped in transforming the health sector.
