The country has been hit by an infection called bronchiolitis which is like a flue illness which affects the chest of children below the age of two but also affects the newly born children.

Speaking from Harare Children’s Hospital where he had gone to assess the situation this evening, the Minister of Health and Child Care Dr David Parirenyatwa said the disease comes with a lot of cough and breathlessness with or without a temperature.

He said harare hospital has admitted over 230 children affected with the disease so far but the situation is stable.

Bronchiolitis is a common illness of the respiratory tract.

It is caused by an infection that affects the tiny airways called the bronchioles that lead to the lungs.

As these airways become inflamed, they swell and fill with mucus, which can make breathing difficult.
