Five classroom roofs at Chipadze Primary School in Bindura were wiped off by Thursday’s hailstorm that caused heavy destructions in some parts of the country.

The hailstorm also affected Marian and Salvation Army Primary Schools.

The roofing material valued at more than US$15 000 was lost at Chipadze Primary School whilst iron sheets of a staff room at a Salvation Army Primary School was wholly dismantled by the violent hailstorm.

Fortunate enough, the disaster struck after pupils had dispersed to their respective residents.

Chipadze Primary School SDC Chairperson Mr Joshua Khumalo said the incident is a major drawback to their attempts to develop, whilst Salvation Army Primary School responsible authority Major Tambudzai Jeremiah said it is miraculous that no one was affected given how it happened.

The district education office is still assessing the level of damage at other schools in Bindura district.
