Minor refurbishments were today being undertaken at the Belvedere Teachers College gym ahead of the hosting of the Zone VI Championships which begin this Friday.
The Zimbabwe Gymnastics Association is putting final touches to the venue of the Zone VI Gymnastics Championships at the Belvedere Teachers Training College Gymnasium ahead of the opening ceremony on Friday.
New equipment from Germany to be used during the Zone VI Championships was being installed and tested.
The Zimbabwe gymnastics team looked sharp during final rehearsals and preparations for the championships which will run from the 10th to the 12th of December.
Zimbabwe Gymnastics Association Chairman, Neil Nativel said all is set for the hosting of the championships.
The opening ceremony on the 10th December promises to be a great evening of entertainment for the entire gymnastics family with an exciting line up of both singing and dancing performances by Tumbuka Dance Company, Pablo and Friends, Ryan Koreya and the Drastic Acrobats.
Competition proper begins on Saturday starting with level 5 Womenâ€™s Artistic Competition.
The programme for the day continues with rest of the womenâ€™s artistic competition, the Aerobic Gymnastics competition and the very strong menâ€™s Artistic competition.
The final day of competition will be on Sunday 12 December and will be a mix of explosive and beautiful gymnastics with the Rhythmic, Tumbling, and Trampoline gymnasts taking to the floor to show their jumping and flexibility abilities.
The championships are the biggest gymnastics competition in the Southern African region.
Some 149 foreign gymnastsâ€™ are expected to participate in six different disciplines at the Zone VI Gymnastics Championships.
All the six countries, Angola, South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho and Zimbabwe have confirmed their participation at the championships now in its 11th year.
