airzim.jpgThe business community has urged government to inject capital in the national flag carrier, Air Zimbabwe, to save it from collapse as it is a vital cog in the country’s economic growth.

Concerns raised by the business community come on the back of several challenges that continue to bedevil the national airline with information on the ground, indicating that the collapse of Air Zimbabwe is inevitable.

 

Vantage Financial Services Managing Director, Mrs. Happiah Revai urged government to intervene to ensure the viability of the national airline.

Economic commentator, Mr. Rutendo Rutendo said for the sake of national pride, government should direct efforts towards recapitalising Air Zimbabwe before it is grounded.

Air Zimbabwe employs hundreds of people and to ensure that jobs are not lost there is need to find ways of ensuring that it regains its status in the region and beyond, explained Communities Calling Action Empowerment group Chairperson Miriam Mutizwa.

Air Zimbabwe which is a critical player in Zimbabwe’s Tourism sector has hit hard times of late and has failed to settle international debts. The national airline is reported to be making a loss of 3 million dollars daily.
