elton mangoma.pngGovernment says it is working on strengthening capacity building on Public Finance Management within key departments as a way of enhancing accountability in Public Resources Management and increasing revenue base.  

Government’s comments comes at the back of current efforts in developing the macro-economic and financial management skills in the public sector following the brain drain which faced the country over the past few years.

 

In an interview with ZBC news at the official opening of the on going six day long public financial management workshop in Harare, Acting Minister of Finance Mr. Elton Mangoma said capacity building in Public Finance Management is critical in improving accountability in the administration of public resources.

 

The five day meeting which is being hosted by the government of Zimbabwe in collaboration with the African Development Institute of African Development Bank is expected to cover issues to do with budget execution, social accountability as well as tax and revenue issues.

 

Zimbabwe’s government has to date made huge strides in improving public finance management evidenced by the enactment of the Public Finance Management Act which is expected to strengthen good governance and accountability.
