Government says the unavailability of global funding will not hamper its efforts in accessing anti-retrovirals for people living with HIV and AIDS.

Speaking at a press conference held in Harare, Minister of Health and Child Welfare, Dr Henry Madzorera said the financial crisis in Europe has impacted negatively on the funding.

Dr Madzorera said government has a duty to provide quality health care and access to medical treatment, even in the absence of assistance from the donor community.

He said his ministry’s budget for 2012 will improve healthcare in the country.

This Thursday, Zimbabwe joins the rest of the world in commemorating World AIDS Day.
