anesu rangweni.jpgJunior President, Anesu Rangweni, has commended government for implementing programmes and policies that empower youth saying its support for the national youth games is reflective of its commitment to youth development.


Speaking at a 1 day Youth Conference in Gwanda held concurrently with the ongoing National Youth Games, Rangweni applauded the government for the role it is playing in empowering the youths to realise full potential in various socio-economic sectors.

He challenged the private sector to invest in sport in order to broaden opportunities for talented young people.

Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere who was represented by the Principal Director, Dr Thokozile Chitepo, said it is through principles and moral values shared amongst athletes that the country can produce better citizens.

Various performances by the youths on the role of sport in nation building saw Masvingo Province coming first in the competition followed by Harare while the hosts, Matabeleland South Province came in 3rd.
