Government will continue to assist young people in playing a leading role in community development while recognising them as important partners in all poverty alleviation programmes.
This was said by the Deputy Minister of Womenâ€™s Affairs, Gender and Community Development, Ms Jessie Majome at a function held by the National Association of Youth Organisations (NAYO) in the capital.
The deputy minister said it is crucial for young people to take advantage of government initiated programmes that availed to them that improve their lives and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.
National Association of Youth Organisations National Coordinator, Mr Vincent Tagwireyi said young people seek to participate in development processes availed by the countryâ€™s leadership through active capacity building and information sharing initiatives.
Since independence, Zimbabwe has embarked on policies and programmes meant to stimulate youth involvement in national development.
The latest indigenisation and empowerment programmes seek to see more young people coming to the forefront.
