The call was made in Harare by visiting environmental journalists who paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Management, Cde Francis Nhema.

The Environmental Journalists Association of Tanzania and Kenya were invited by the newly formed Zimbabwe Environmental Journalist Association –ZEJA– to promote the writing and broadcasting of stories that help to protect the environment.

Minister Nhema said journalists need to write more stories that educate the population as the environment supports socio-economic activities in a country.

The environmental journalists organisation agreed to form a regional organisation code named Environmental Journalists of Eastern and Southern Africa that will oversee problems faced by environmental journalists.
