The government says the service level benchmarking initiative recently adopted by local authorities is yielding positive results as councils are now implementing development initiatives in an informed manner.

Local authorities which have been castigated for poor service delivery are set for major transformation as the government’s service level benchmarking initiative seem to be providing the right alternatives on the way of conducting business.

Director Rural Local Authority in the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Mr Mike Mazai said government is impressed with the way councils have adopted the initiative which is already yielding positive results.

National chairman for Rural District Councils Dr Edward Pise said government should help in the construction of road infrastructure network for councils to attract investment.

Rural authorities are having a series of workshops to educate stakeholders on how to attract investments in their areas of jurisdiction.
