The Ministry Health and Child Care says it is illegal for pharmacies and hospitals to charge medicines in US dollars or to inflate the prices rating with the US dollar.

Recent weeks have seen pharmacies across the country either charging their medicines in the US dollars or inflate the prices in line with the black market exchange rate for the US dollar, but the government said the move is illegal.

“It is not right for pharmacists to charge US dollars. The RBZ has already given us money although it is not sufficient,” Health Minister Dr Obediah Moyo during the graduation ceremony of more than 300 nurses and midwives at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.

Meanwhile, it was a day to remember for graduands who got diplomas in nursing and midwifery as they celebrated their achievements.
