Uplifting communities in Masvingo, particularly the rural folk through creating viable projects is among the government`s priorities.
Masvingo Minister of State Dr Paul Chimedza who was addressing Zanu PF members during inter-district meetings held in Bikita and Zaka, said ensuring development is realised is among his key result areas.
Most rural communities often find themselves struggling to put food on the table in times of drought, as they have no alternative means of getting income.
Dr Chimedza says he is working to ensure that the rural folk are in a position to sustain their livelihoods, through various projects which include providing revolving funds to allow them to start income generating projects.
The minister said ensuring that all water bodies in the rural areas are viably utilised for irrigation will also help to fight poverty.
Addressing the same gathering in Zaka, Zanu PF women’s league provincial chairperson Cde Veronica Makonese bemoaned lack of transparency in funds that are meant to uplift the rural women.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF Masvingo acting provincial chairman Cde Amasi Nenjana, who addressed Zanu PF members at a similar meeting held in Bikita, reminded them that the party has one centre of power.
The Zanu PF leadership in Masvingo is moving across the province meeting their members.
