winter wheat.jpgGovernment has been called upon to release the winter wheat producer price as harvesting is due to start in two weeks time.

Speaking to ZBC News, one of the farmers in the middle Sabi area of Manicaland Province, Cde Enock Porusingazi said it is important to know the producer price in time.

He urged the government to take into consideration electricity bills, labour, irrigation and fuel costs when coming up with the price.

Wheat harvesting is due to start in middle Sabi because of its high temperatures.

Cde Porusingazi has however thanked the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority for coming to their rescue as they have managed to contain quelea birds.

The Parks and Wildlife Management Authority did some spot sprays after ZBC News announced the quelea birds’ outbreak in the area two weeks ago.
