Government plans to conduct a science and technology skills audit that will prepare   university graduates with industrial skills to feed into the broader vision of economic development under the industrialisation agenda.

The Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Ministry has cut out various objectives under the 100 day plan, targeted to harness the potential of the tertiary education sector and directing this knowledge towards economic growth.

At a meeting held in Harare today between government and vice chancellors, the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Professor Amon Murwira stated that universities play a critical role to economic development, hence the crafting of strategies to harness this potential.

In order to sustain the contribution of universities to industrial development, the ministry is also targeting the establishment of science parks and innovation hubs that will assist in spearheading the special economic zones thrust.
