Government has assured Bulawayo residents that no citizen in the country will go hungry, with Vice President Kembo Mohadi saying after a poor 2018-19 season, authorities will ensure adequate food supplies for every needy family and individuals.
He said there will be adequate food for all citizens regardless of the fact that the nation did not harvest enough due to crop failure in many parts of the country.
“No one will starve in this country. We have ensured that food will be given to everyone. Through your relevant offices, channel your food needs and government will make sure that everyone receives,” he said.
According to the Food and Nutrition Council, the government has made commitments and set national targets through sustainable development goals.
Of particular relevance, the government has committed itself to ‘end hunger’, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture as described by sustainable development goal number two.
