The government has secured $400 000 for the construction of Chadzire Bridge in Buhera Central constituency, which was damaged by rains in 1996.

The construction of the bridge is now expected to begin this week following the availing of the funds.

It is good news for the community which had waited for over two decades to see the construction of the new Chadzire Bridge to begin.

The villagers pledged their commitment to work with the District Development Fund (DDF) to expedite its construction.

Councillor for Ward 18, Cde Wisdom Jiri highlighted that the community was missing on key developmental projects mainly due to the poor road infrastructure which affects transportation of goods and services.

DDF Manicaland Provincial Roads Manager, Mr Gibson Ziyadhuma said all systems have been activated to ensure full scale construction of the bridge.

The villagers have already started mobilising locally available construction material and will contribute labour to expedite the construction process.

The bridge links Buhera and Mutare and residents of ward 18 and 20 were the worst affected.
