The government is seeking to scale up public enterprises reforms through restructuring six Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) subsidiaries, targeting rehabilitation of key hospitals in the country as well as establishing a stainless steel plant in Mvuma.

These were some of the decisions that the Cabinet came up with during this Thursday sitting.

Addressing the post cabinet media briefing, the Acting Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Sekai Nzenza said a number of economic and social decisions were passed by Cabinet to take effect in the short and medium term in line with the national development agenda.

Cabinet was also briefed on the latest position regarding the rescue efforts at Cricket Mine in Battlefields and also the state of the 2018/19 agricultural season.

The government has also mandated the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare to amend the Private Voluntary Organisations Act chapter 17.05 in order to render it compliant with the requirements of the financial action taskforce on combating money laundering and financing of terrorism by individuals and institutions.
