Government has intensified preparations for the hosting of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly in 2013 in the resort town of Victoria Falls.
The period between the 26th of August and the first week of September 2013 will see various stakeholders from the tourism industry descending on the resort town for the UNWTO General Assembly.
Speaking on the sidelines of a luncheon held for senior government officials at a local restaurant, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Secretary, Dr Sylvester Maunganidze said they are way ahead in terms of preparations and everything is moving with speed.
Dr Maunganidze said a team from the UNWTO is expected to jet into the country on the 25th of February to familiarise themselves with facilities in Victoria Falls.
The luncheon was also held to celebrate the victory of winning the bid to host the UNWTO General Assembly as well as to appraise top government officials on the preparations.
The top government officials who were in attendance include permanent secretaries, principal directors and officials from the Office of the President and Cabinet.
