The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Cde Mangaliso Ndlovu has met Zimbabwe’s industry representatives to review 2019 first quarter performance and persistent price increases of basic commodities
Speaking during the breakfast meeting organised to do a post mortem of 2018 last quarter and 2019 first quarter, Minister Ndlovu highlighted challenges encountered, successes as well as the forecast for the rest of 2019.
“The continued engagement between the government and industry is key to eradicate challenges that we continue to face as a nation,” he said.
Industry was well represented by the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) and Zimbabwe Chamber of Small to Medium Enterprises.
These representatives gave an analysis of the performance of the industry under their constituency while also proffering solutions to mitigate challenges highlighted.
What clearly came out from the engagement is the urgent need for the government and the private sector to come up with proper strategies to create a sustainable investment environment that supports the country’s economic growth ambitions.
