The government has commended the Dzikwa Trust for improving the standards of living for vulnerable children in Dzivaresekwa, Harare through provision of special needs including basic education.

In her address during the trust’s 25th anniversary in Harare today, the Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province, Cde Miriam Chikukwa said the government is enhancing basic education to disadvantaged children through the assistance from the trust’s education and well-being support programme.

Finnish Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Timo Okkomen, who is biased in Zambia, said his government has been working with Dzikwa Trust to ensure that its programmes become a success.

Dzikwa Trust founder, Mr Seppo Ainamo highlighted that it is difficult to look after so many children as the programme gobbles about $500 000 annually.

Dzivareskwa legislator, Cde Omega Hungwe said there are so many orphans in her constituency, a situation that needs to be addressed.

Dzikwa Trust was founded in 1992 and is assisting more than 400 orphans.
