The Minister of Energy and Power Development Dr Joram Gumbo has refuted false news circulating on various social media platforms that government is intending to increase the price of fuel.

Minister Gumbo advised members of the public to dismiss these reports and continue to purchase fuel on the recommended prices gazetted in January this year.

“These reports should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve,” said Dr Gumbo.

The Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe also told this ZBC News crew that the public should disregard the said claims aimed at causing despondency.

“These are political statements by some retrogressive elements who seek to create pandemonium to the motoring public,” Dr Mangudya.

The recommended fuel prices set on January 12 still stand and motorists should continue buying fuel at those prices.
