Government says it is committed to safeguard human rights by making sure that all laws are aligned to the new constitution.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Mrs Virginia Mabhiza told the ZBC News on the sidelines of the International Human Rights Day commemorations that government supports all efforts made by the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission in a bid to protect all people including alignment of laws to the new constitution.
Chairperson of the ZHRC Mr Elasto Mugwadi said they are going to fulfill President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration speech of having free democracy in the country.
UNDP country director Mr Georges Van Montfort highlighted human rights should be observed by all nations and be celebrated without favour.
The International Human Rights Day is commemorated annually on the 10th of December and was running under the theme, “Standup4humanrights”.
