Government is committed to the reduction of maternal mortality rate through raising funds that will cater for pregnant women in the country.
Deputy Prime Minister, Ms Thokozani Khupe who is also CARMA’s goodwill ambassador, reiterated government’s commitment when she visited Royce clinic in Domboshava with a view to ascertain challenges that hinder proper service delivery.
Deputy Prime Minister Khupe said government is committed to the reduction of maternal mortality rate in the country, adding that concerns for funding have been raised with the Minister of Finance for consideration in the forthcoming national budget.
Royce clinic matron, Mrs Royce Mushababiri said the institution is facing a number of challenges that require over US$1 million to realise its full potential.
Established in April last year, the clinic assists at least forty pregnant women in the area monthly, but faces problems in acquiring a service vehicle.
The clinic charges US$10 for pregnant mothers as compared to other hospitals which charge up to US$50.
