The early distribution of Presidential Inputs has been described as a clear indication of how the new dispensation is prioritising agricultural productivity.
Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde David Musabayana said these remarks while officially launching the Provincial Presidential Input Support Scheme at Chineyi Business Centre in Wedza adding that the move is aimed at improving agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers.
“As you are aware we used to receive the inputs under this programme very late into the season but this year your inputs have come early which shows how committed President Emmerson Mnangagwa is to the improvement of agricultural productivity,” he said.
More than 600 villagers from the area received the inputs under the scheme.
The Presidential inputs support programme is targeting 1.8 million small holder farmers with each household receiving 10kg seed maize, 50kgs of compound d and 50kgs of top dressing.
