Government has commissioned the Charter-Machongwe road in Chimanimani East constituency that was tarred under the new dispensation’s rapid results initiative following years of neglect.
For 22 years the road stretch linking Charter to Machongwe had gone untarred but the infrastructure development agenda being advanced by the new dispensation under President Emmerson Mnangagwa has seen the Chimanimani community benefitting.
Motorists and Chimanimani residents have praised the new dispensation for attending to the completion of the road which was abandoned in 1996 saying it is now trafficable.
“We are humbled by the leadership of President Mnangagwa whose administration managed to tar the road during the short period he has been the country’s president,” said the residents.
Zanu PF aspiring legislator for Chimanimani East Joshua Sacco said he is humbled by the speed taken to tar the road with guest of honour at the commissioning ceremony Senator Monica Mutsvangwa saying the development reflects the able leadership of President Mnangagwa hence the importance of giving him a fresh mandate to lead the country.
“The tarring of the road under the new dispensation’s target is testimony that President Mnangagwa has ability to transform the country’s economy,” they said.
In order to improve the road network in Chimanimani East, government is also working on an emergency gravelling exercise with the view of tarring the road all the way to Rusitu to ensure easy transportation of agriculture produce to the market.
