The government has commended the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) for working with the business sector in revamping the national economy.

This was said by Industry and Commerce Minister, Dr Mike Bimha at the ZNCC Mashonaland region annual business awards.

Speaking at the business awards, Dr Bimha who was the guest of honour urged industry to be innovative in order to enhance competitiveness and boost economic growth.

ZNCC president, Davidson Norupiri hailed the government for the support it is rendering to industry through favourable economic policies.

Dr Norupiri said the awards serve to motivate organisations to strive for greater heights in business excellence.

Some of the companies who walked away with prizes include Econet Wireless which scooped the sustainability award, Amidol Services received the most improved exporter award in the tobacco category while Chinhoyi University walked away with the tertiary institution award.

The awards comes at a time when industry has recorded an increase in industrial capacity utilisation and productivity has also improved which has seen a number of companies setting up manufacturing plants locally.
