gmb1.jpgThe Grain Marketing Board( GMB) has commenced payments for deliveries made to depots with effect from this Friday, following the US$10 million injection from treasury.

The development comes as a major boost to farmers across the country currently planning for the next farming season.

In a press statement, GMB said farmers should check with their depots to collect payments for maize delivered.

The board also appealed to farmers to continue delivering maize with the accepted quality standard to GMB depots countrywide.

The current maize producer price is US$ 275 per metric tonne.

Treasury has also committed itself to the injection of an additional US$10 million in the next few weeks to ensure that GMB meets the payments backlog.
