The ongoing 2018 Madrid International Tourism Fair has seen the global travel and tourism family commending Zimbabwe for the smooth political transition with the tourism leaders pledging their support towards the full recovery of the local tourism industry.

Zimbabwe’s new political dispensation has been commended for its vision of transforming the African country’s economy and unlocking the potential of the tourism industry.

The global tourism industry players attending the key gathering say they are ready to work with Zimbabwe in ensuring sustainable tourism development.

Speaking soon after emerging from a closed door meeting with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Secretary General Mr Zurab Pololikashvil, head of the Zimbabwean delegation Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Cde Prisca Mupfumira said the country welcomes the support being shown to the country’s new political dispensation and is hopeful of strengthening of ties with the global tourism family.

Meanwhile, the Investment and Tourism Business Forum which was jointly organised by Fitur, UNWTO and Casa Africa saw the tourism leaders stressing the need for Africa to unlock the potential of the tourism industry through increased investment in infrastructure and promotion of Brand Africa.
