According to a research carried out by Plan International, a girl child in remote areas still suffers abuse due to lack of information.

A gender advisor with the organisation, Miss Tinotenda Hondo said some girls are not given opportunities to participate in decisions which directly affect them.

Mr. Christopher Mtetwa who works with teen mothers in Epworth said most young girls in the area did not complete their O-levels due to early pregnancies.

Meanwhile, Plan International has launched a campaign code named ‘Because I am a Girl’ which is advocating for the 22 of September to be an International Day of the Girl Child.
