The people of Ghana this Monday marked their diamond jubilee with a call of mobilising the resources and the people for Ghana’s future.

Ghanaian President Mr Nana Addo Akufo-Addo said his recent mandate to run Ghana gives him commitment to better for Mother Ghana. He assumed office in January this year.

President Akufo-Addo paid homage to the founding fathers of Ghana.

Present at the celebrations were the living former presidents of Ghana – Jerry Rawlings, John Kufuor, John Dramani Mahama.

President Robert Mugabe was among the dignitaries who attended the 60th Ghana independence celebrations. The welcoming applause for President Mugabe was deafening.

Also present was Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe while other countries were represented by vice presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers, speakers of parliament and senior government officials.

The late Kwame Nkrumah the founding president of the republic of Ghana shouldered the burden of the decolonisation of the African continent.

Nkrumah had a vision which President Mugabe has pronounced on several occasions –  a continental unity, a border-less Africa, and industrialised Africa, a common market for Africa, a less dependent Africa, a respected and respectful Africa.
