International German handball instructor Helmut Martin says mobilisation of resources to purchase equipment is fundamental in the growth of handball in Zimbabwe.
Martin left the country today after conducting three successful coaching clinics in Harare, Kadoma and Bulawayo.
Before his departure Martin said he was impressed by the enthusiasm of coaches that attended the clinics he conducted.
When quizzed about what needs to be done to spur the growth of handball, Martin said the purchase of more equipment is critical in imparting modern coaching methods.
A total of 141 coaches graduated with D-license certificates in the coaching clinics held in Harare, Kadoma and Bulawayo.
The coaching courses were targeted at teachers and junior coaches who have also been given the responsibility of imparting knowledge to other coaches through a train the trainer’s initiative.
Martin’s visit to Zimbabwe is part of the Zimbabwe Handball Federation’s vision of growing the sport by providing coaches with opportunities of acquiring necessary knowledge by participating in training programmes.
