The Zimbabwe netball team, the Gems have pulled off a second Vitality World Cup win, defeating Northern Ireland to qualify for the next stand of the tournament.
The Gems edged the Irish side, which was ranked five places above them in the world, 51-49 in Liverpool this evening.
Gems’ head coach, Lloyd Makunde expressed great satisfaction at his team’s performance, saying that the Gems displayed great team work.
“I can’t express myself. I am overwhelmed, it was built on team work and after today, we really feel we are ready to take on anyone and we will get as far as we possibly can,” said Makunde.
This qualifying win follows a previous 79-49 win against Sri Lanka, as well as a loss against Australia 73-39.
