A funeral parade for the late senior Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officer Colonel Victor Dzuda was held at One Commando Regiment Barracks in Harare today.

Relatives, friends and colleagues thronged the One Commando Regiment Barracks in the capital for a funeral parade held to pay tribute to the late senior ZNA officer.

Colonel Dzuda died on the 7th of this month at Westgate 24 Hour Medical Centre in Harare.

Born on 26 April 1962, Colonel Dzuda joined the ZNA on 01 January 1983 as a sergeant and again was selected for a officer cadet course which he did in Nigeria the same year.

After completing the cadet course he was commissioned to the rank of second lieutenant and rose through the ranks to become a colonel, a current rank in which he died at.

Presiding over the funeral parade, chief mourner Major General Hlanganani Tapson Dube described the death of Colonel Dzuda as a loss to the entire Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF).

“The passing on of Colonel Dzuda has not robbed the Dzuda family only but the ZDF and the nation,” he said.

During his long and illustrious service, the late senior officer was awarded various medals among them the Zimbabwe Independence medal, the Mozambique Campaign, the long and exemplary service medal and the Democratic Republic of Congo campaign medal.

Colonel Dzuda will be buried tomorrow in Shamva, he leaves behind his wife Portia Chidemo and six children.
