Operation of Hope doctors are in Bulawayo at Mpilo hospital for a week-long free medical services to people with cleft lip, pallets and skin burns.
This is the group’s third visit to the hospital with the aim of assisting local people in Zimbabwe who require cleft lip, pallet and burnt skins surgery.
The President of the Operation of Hope Dr Jennifer Mora says the team constitutes of medical practitioners from America and includes Zimbabweans who voluntarily offered their services at their own expense as a way of giving back to the society.
A mother whose daughter suffered some burns Ms Revai Runyanya said she is pleased with the programme and is hoping for a positive outcome from the operation since the burns on her daughter had a negative impact on her daily activities.
The nurse in charge at Mpilo Hospital Ms Precious Maphosa said the team will be at the hospital until the 12th of this month and more than 50 patients are expected to be assisted.
The group will also be in Harare on the 18th of this month and another programme is set for November.
