gum-trees.jpgThe French Ambassador to Zimbabwe says his country will continue to support local tourism initiatives through rendering capacity building support in conservation and natural resources management.

Ambassador Francois Ponge told ZBC News at a seminar on “Production and Conservation Partnerships” held at the University of Zimbabwe that his country will continue strengthening and championing research and development in areas of conservation and natural resources management.

He also pledged support to Zimbabwe as the country gets ready to host the UNWTO General Assembly meeting.

Speaking at the same occasion, University of Zimbabwe Vice Chancellor, Professor Levy Nyagura applauded the partnership between Zimbabwe and French institutions that has created a learning platform for local academics, while also contributing to sustainable development, nature conservation and improved rural livelihoods.

The French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development has partnered the University of Zimbabwe and the National University of Science and Technology to offer capacity building programmes to local graduates so they can work at creating sustainable development programmes in natural resources and conservation management.
