A Mashava gold mine which used to rake in between 30 to 60 kilogrammes of gold per month has been closed since 2012 and millions of dollars worth of equipment continues to rot.
It all began over an ownership dispute between two companies.
The result of that disagreement is production which stopped and this equipment which is literally wasting away by day.
The former workers said they want urgent government intervention to revive the mine.
Local Member of Parliament for the area Cde Ezra Chadzamira said while the local community has suffered through job losses government has also lost significant revenues to Treasury.
From the records here it looks like the former 30 to 60 kgs of gold output per month will remain just but a pipe dream until such a time when there is serious acknowledgement that the mine is revived.
