Former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and child Care, Dr Office Samson Chidede has died.
Dr Chidede died at his home in Mandara, Harare, yesterday after battling with cancer since 2012.
He was 76.
Dr Chidede joined the Ministry of Health and Child Care as a junior doctor in 1971 and rose through the ranks to become a hospital superintendent at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in 1978.
Due to his dedication, he was then appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Child Care in 1987.
Dr Chidede will be buried on Friday at Greendale cemetery.
Meanwhile, mourners are gathered at House Number 4 Torito Close in Mandara.
Dr Chidede leaves behind his wife Farai, four children and three grandchildren.
