The nation has been plunged into morning following the death of the Zanu PF Deputy Chief Whip and former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Cde Obedingwa Mguni.

Cde Mguni died in Harare last night at the age of 57 from an undisclosed ailment.

Zanu PF National Spokesperson, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo said the death of Cde Mguni left the party and Mangwe constituency in utter bewilderment.

“As senator for Bulilima Mangwe, I feel part of my physical being has been ripped off. Cde Mguni died on duty as he had attended Parliament yesterday and had interacted with his colleagues in the usual jovial, positive and constructive manner,” said Ambassador Khaya Moyo.

The Zanu PF spokesperson also said the nation has lost a committed, disciplined and humble man of the people.

“Zanu PF has been robbed of an unflinching servant, [whil]e Mangwe constituency is left without a dependable representative and Zimbabwe poorer in his absence,” Cde Khaya Moyo said.

Zanu PF Matabeleland South leaders also expressed shock and deep sadness at Cde Mguni’s death.

Matabeleland South Minister of State Cde Abednico Ncube, Provincial Chairperson Cde Rabelani Choene and Cde Rido Mpofu concurred that the province has been robbed of a principled revolutionary in the former Home Affairs Deputy Minister Mguni.
