A former member of the popular musical group Born Free Crew, Leeroy Nyamande has died.

He was 25.

The backing vocalist and drummer died this Sunday at Parirenyatwa Hospital after a prolonged battle with cancer and will be buried tomorrow in Chihota.

Members of the Born Free Crew who worked with him said they were shocked and saddened by their colleague’s passing on as they did not expect it so soon.

Nyamande’s brother, Calvin said the family is deeply grieved by this sad loss.

The late contributed on songs such as ‘Nguva YeRhodesia’ and ‘Unity’.

He was also part of the crew that was on most of Born Free Crew videos.

Some of the popular Born Free Crew songs include ‘Get Connected’, ‘Gushungo’ and ‘Ndatadza Kukanganwa’ which they performed during the popular Ministry of Information, Media and Publicity musical galas.

Nyamande was now a gospel singer based in Mozambique.
