Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Chris Mushohwe has urged religious organisations to be true partners with government in advancing the socio-economic development programmes to the congregants.
In an interview on the sidelines of the welcoming ceremony of the new United Methodist Church pastor for the Chipfatsura Circuit Reverend Archford Muchingami, Dr Mushohwe said the government has created adequate empowerment opportunities and urged Christian denominations to embrace the programmes to economically empower their followers.
He added that a number of religious organisations have expressed their desire to partner the government in Command Agriculture, and praised the Johanne Marange Apostolic Church for taking the lead.
Minister Mushohwe challenged the religious denominations to safeguard the freedom of worship which is enshrined in the constitution.
Reverend Muchingami has served in a number of circuits, and was leading the Dema Circuit before his transfer to Chipfatsura.
