Local mining executive, Mr. Donald Chanaiwa, says foreign investors should wake up to the reality that local communities have a right and privilege to enjoy the benefits of the resources in their areas.

In an interview with ZBC News, Mr. Chanaiwa who is the Executive Director of Chegutu-based Pickston Gold Mine, said such investors should adhere to the dictates of the country’s laws on indigenisation.

He added that local people should grab the opportunity ushered in by the indigenisation programme as spelt out in indigenisation and empowerment laws.

He called on banks to loosen lending conditions for indigenous miners saying the majority of miners currently do not have collateral which is demanded by financial institutions.
