The First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe is scheduled to hold an interface rally with members of the indigenous churches comprising the apostolic and zion sects this coming sunday the 5th of this month at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.
Members of the indigenous churches requested an interface with Dr Mugabe so that they present their views and grievances in respect of their day-to-day activities.
Members of the organising committee that include Zanu PF Harare provincial executive, various sects of the indigenous churches, officials from the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture under which portfolio the churches fall under and event organisers were at Rufaro Stadium today assessing preparations.
Zanu PF Harare Province Political Commissar Cde Shadreck Mashayamombe expressed satisfaction with preparations made at the venue and invited indigenous churches to come in their numbers.
Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Cde Makhosini Hlongwane said they are expecting a huge turnout and they are working on modalities to ensure even those that will not be accommodated in the stadium will be able to follow proceedings easily from viewing facilities that are going to be mounted outside.
Some representatives from the apostolic sects Amai Sipelile Nzira and Bishop Munyaradzi Chakumhara thanked the First Lady who is also Secretary for Women’s Affairs for granting them an opportunity to air out their views.
Indigenous churches were founded in Africa by Africans and in Zimbabwe they are taking root and growing at a phenomenal rate.
They have also made known their stance that they will work hand in hand with the government thus their presence at national events.
