Thousands of people from Mashonaland Central Province have benefited from the First Lady’s inheritance programme, which has come at a time the distribution of estates left behind by the deceased remains a major challenge.
The First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa’s programme continues to attract more people who want to quench their appetite for legal knowledge.
At Nzvimbo growth point in Mashonaland Central Province, the event was over-subscribed.
The hall could not accommodate the thousands of people who turned up and some had to follow proceedings from outside the building.
A team of legal experts comprising representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, the Law Society of Zimbabwe and the Master of High Court, Mr Eldered Mutasa did not disappoint as they advised the gathering on the complexities of laws governing the administration of estates.
The Administration of Estate Act provides for a custodial sentence of up to 30 days imprisonment for failure to register a deceased’s estate within the prescribed 14 days.
The First Lady’s initiative follows an increased number of widows who approached her to seek guidance.
