The First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa has launched a Food and Nutrition Programme targeted at dealing with malnutrition at a colorful programme also attended by traditional leaders in Ntabazinduna some 40 kilometers from Bulawayo.

The First Lady took time to open up on her decision to quit politics and concentrate on her new role as the mother of the nation to serve Zimbabweans regardless of political affiliation as she handed over 15 metric tonnes of corn soya blend to the Ntabazinduna community meant for supplementary feeding to children aged between six and 59 months.

Officiating at the event Amai Mnangagwa said through her Angel of Hope Trust she will do everything wiithin her powers to ensure that Zimbabweans are well fed and get access to proper health facilities.

“Matabeleland North is one of the provinces hard hit with high levels of malnutrition in the country especially amongst children under the age of five. The corn soya blend porridge I have brought is highly nutritious and it will enhance nutritional levels amongst the children in need of this porridge,” she said.

Local leadership of Umguza constituency thanked Amai Mnangagwa for her kind gesture in choosing Matabeleland North Province in such a programme saying this will go a long way in improving the lifestyle of the community.

Going forward, the First Lady pledged to launch the programme at critical centers across the country as she seeks to end hunger and malnutrition in the country.
