The First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa says the late Chief Chapoto played an important role in the development of Kanyemba area.
She said this when she visited Chief Chapoto’s residence in Sunningdale Harare to pay her condolences.
Chief Chapoto died on Monday in Harare following a battle with prostate cancer.
Addressing mourners, the First Lady praised the late chief for working towards developing Kanyemba area.
She said his vision must be fulfilled by the community to ensure total emancipation of the community.
Family members and the Kanyemba community described the late Chief Chapoto as a unifier and an example of good leadership.
They commended the First Lady for working with the late chief and support for the funeral.
Kanyemba area is one of the marginalised communities in Zimbabwe and the First Lady through her Angel of Hope Foundation is working closely with them to economically empower them.
A number of projects were introduced in the area and government has also chipped in to develop Kanyemba.
Chief Chapoto is expected to be buried in Kanyemba on Sunday.
