The Zanu PF Women’s League chicken rearing business training project is gaining steam, this time being taken to the border town of Plumtree.
Over 500 women have already been trained in Beitbridge and Gwanda alone under the programme, which is a brain child of the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe.
The programme will see women in all the country’s 10 provinces being empowered on how to be part of the chicken rearing business before they receive the chicks that have been availed by Dr Mugabe.
A total of 30 000 chicks have been made available to be equally distributed among all the 10 provinces of the country.
Speaking during the event, Zanu PF Matabeleland South Women’s League Provincial Chairperson, Cde Sister Moyo, paid tribute to the First Lady for the gesture and urged all women to take advantage of the project to play an active part in the economy.
Irvine’s Zimbabwe Technical Advisor and Training Facilitator, Mrs Sisa Mpofu said they hope to have women better poised to be competitive in the sector as they have been appraised on critical issues on poultry production.
The training, which runs under the theme: ‘Empowering Women for Increased Participation in the Wconomy,’ was attended by party representatives from Matabeleland South province’s districts of Mangwe, Matopo and Bulilima.
