The First Lady, Cde Auxillia Mnangagwa says empowerment of women can eradicate some of the economic and social problems in societies.

The sentiments came out as she concluded her tour of children’s homes across the country.

Hundreds of people in the Midlands Province thronged Mkoba Teachers College in Gweru to show their support to the First Lady in her quest to transform the lives of vulnerable children.

A packed house saw many having to patiently wait outside as they wanted to give her thumbs up for the good work she has started.

Addressing the Midlands community, Cde Mnangagwa revealed that empowerment of women can be a solution to some of the socio-economic challenges.

Earlier on, the First Lady met with vulnerable children in Kwekwe where church leaders agreed that they have an obligation to look after these disadvantaged children.

The countrywide tour by the First Lady also unearthed the rich cultural talents that Zimbabwe boasts of as traditional dance proved the most common and classic entertainment.

All the children’s homes received their share of Christmas gifts.

The tour has also seen traditional leaders pledging their support to fight child abuse and promote cultural values.
