Nurturing football talent from a tender age is seen as a fundamental part of the drive to come up with a competitive senior national team in future.

ZIFA has underscored the importance of junior football in its development initiative.

ZIFA president, Cuthbert Dube said junior football is part of their strategic plan, adding that the football mother body will in the impending weeks channel resources towards junior football leagues.

“We will disburse grants from FIFA towards junior football at the end of this month. This will play a key role in our development strategy,” said Dube.

Zimbabwe Junior Football League secretary general, Lloyd Chigove said they’re indebted to ZIFA for its commitment towards development of football from the junior ranks.

The ZJFL will this weekend stage an Under 13 national team selection tournament at Belgravia Sports Club.
